We bought this for our 6 year old grandson. He has another smaller set and absolutely loves it. By following picture instruction he can quickly assemble electronic circuitry that actually performs a task. It encourages him to experiment and gives him a sense of accomplishiment. It's like an electronic erector set that was so popular when I was a kid. Very good desigh and sturdily built, even the case is compartmentalized for neat storeage.
We love this toy. My daughter has spent many hours assembling the various rover variations covered in the accompanying manual. I highly recommend it for the educational component alone; it is also fun. But the real reason I am writing this review is because one of our components just stopped working. I called the company. "Jerry" took my information and said he'd send it right out. When I pointed out that I hadn't paid for the replacement part yet, he responded, "We support our products." This despite the fact that we've had this rover for many months! I mean, a free replacement part... Actually supporting the product... I about fell over...
far more than a toy, it's a learning experience that challenges a child, yet does not frustrate. Many levels of activity are possible with snap circuits, and the 8 year old for whom it was purchased loved it, along with his parents and brother and sisters! Superior in every way..
I'm 8. Thing I like best - you can change how it works by switching the snaps around. Thing I like least - It can not go very fast. Overall, I think that it is a good toy for people that are interested in electronics. I want some more toys from this company.
The only thing that I didn't like about the Snap Rover is that the antenna for the remote is a little flimsy. My son has already broken it but it still operates the car. My 6-year-old is REALLY into all Snap Circuits - it is practically his life! He has learned a lot about how all of the electronic components work together to make a project run. I would recommend any Snap Circuit product to anyone!
This toy is great. My kid has made so many things with all of the snap circuit line of products. Very durable, fun and educational.
My son just turned 7 and he loves this toy!!!! He's used it in many ways. He'll follow directions and then go onto his own creation. Plus when my son bent a wire out of shape, I called the 800 number and received a replacment part at no extra cost. Love this company and letting others know about it.
My six year old son loves it. He was able to assemble it although he is a beginner reader. The quality is good also except the light bulb blew, thank goodness it is replaceable. It makes them think and figure how the parts work.It is a good toy for a mechanical kid.
I'm so glad after getting this for my son for his 6th birthday that we didn't get the other remote vehicles we'd been considering. You can build it (snap it together), change it if desired, etc. It's very durable and if you have missing or broken parts, there is a cust. service email and phone # to get in touch with the company. I'm amazed how it goes on the carpet and the kitchen floor and over obstacles w/o trouble. A wonderful educational toy. Well worth the money. I would buy it again.
I purchased this item for my grandson. As I live abroad, his mother told me what a great gift this was and how much fun he has with it. I always go for educational toys : It challenges him and keeps his interest. This is a great toy for kids who like to to construct. It's a great alternative for a lego lover. It's also well made and the instructions are clear and easy to follow.
Bought this for my 11 year old son, and he just loves it. He built it pretty quickly and had re-built it several times just for the fun of it. To his mom's dismay, he's built large obstacle courses around the house, and drives it all over the place. He's also attached many home made accessories to enhance his play and stir his imagination.
My 9 year old put this together as his first Christmas present to open. He did it pretty quickly and got it up and running right away. It wasn't hard to do and was really fun when it was driving around. He loved it.
The motor is a little loud, but other than that minor flaw this is a great toy!! Educational to the limit. My kids started with Snap Circuits Junior and this is their second set. Love all the different projects and the fact that it is a remote control toy, makes it even better for my kids! Don't hesitate!
